Why “The Cofused Jew” ?

When my wife and I moved from Indiana to Dallas Texas in 2008, we decided to check out Larry Huch’s church (DFW New Beginnings) in Irving. We had seen Pastor Larry Huch on television a couple of times, so we thught it could interesting. We have been attending ever since.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first. I had been taught all my life how God was upset with Israel because of how they rejected Jesus. I was also taught that the church had replaced Israel. Boy, was I wrong.

As I began learning the roots of my Christian faith, and how they are deeply embedded (grafted in) with the Jewish customs, my life changed. Suddenly, I could see more clearly. The scriptures began to come alive to me. The best way to describe it is, “WOW !!!”

I now have mezuzahs on the doorposts of my home (and business website), I pray with the tallit every day, and I keep Shabbat. I may not always do things exactly “right” all the time, but I am learning. I still have so very much to learn.

Anyway, as for the name “The Confused Jew”…

Son after attending the church, my wife bught me a necklace for my birthday. It is a Star of David with a cross in the center. I wore it every day. A coworker noticed it, and asked, “What are you… some kind of confused jew?” The term just kinda struck a cord with me.
